Donors Built the Museum - Donors Make the Museum
Museum programs and exhibits are entirely supported by Donations from our Visitors and Friends, as well as Admission Fees, Store Earnings, and Fund-Raising Events. Since its inception as a donation from the Mendocino County Historical Society to the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors, the Museum has a history of counting on and caring for donations that reflect the heritage of Mendocino County.

- Donations of historically and culturally significant items have created this Museum.
Mendocino County Museum has an extensive and varied collection made up of objects and documents from all over Mendocino County, from different time periods and cultures and materials. This collection was assembled through the thoughtfulness and generosity of individuals: those known mostly to their families, those active in their own communities, and those with countywide recognition. All donations help the Museum to conserve and present the heritage of all who have made their home in Mendocino County.
