Now through Sept 2012
VETERANS HISTORY: PERSONAL Uniforms, medals, ration books, postcards, ammo - things collected and kept by veterans - from World War I and II, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and in-between. This is veterans' history from the personal point of view shared with the community through an exhibit in the Museum. On some Saturday afternoons, some of the veterans will be on hand to give background to the items and talk about their individual stories. Now through May 2012 MENDOCINO FLAVORS - OUR FAVORITE LOCAL FOODS Artwork from students throughout the county, and a few adults, enlivens the Long Gallery. From pears, some with spots, to pumpkins and persimmons, kids have produced their perspectives on produce and the results are creative and colorful. The Opening Reception on Sunday, January 29, featured local foods and kid-friendly things to eat- veggies and fruit with peanut butter dipping sauce, and locally-made pizza. Now throughout 2012 THE CHARLES GIVENS PHOTOGRAPHY COLLECTION OF ROOTS OF MOTIVE POWER Charles Givens was a local logging railroad person and photographer. He also collected photographs from others. Altogether, the collection is a stunning compendium of logging and train operations in Mendocino County in the early 1900s. |
